The Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS)[1], is a secondary use data set that aims to deliver comprehensive, nationally consistent and comparable person-based information for individuals who are in contact with mental health services, intended for planning and improving mental health services. Organisations are required to send data in MHSDS format to NHS England at the level of the individual when they provide mental health services[2] that are funded (wholly or partially) by NHS England.
While voluntary organisations play a vital role in delivering mental health services, they can face challenges in meeting the ethical, technical, resource, and procedural demands of compliance with MHSDS reporting[3]. These challenges may create barriers to effective collaboration and data sharing.
